The eCLAU project was developed in order to respond to the current political developments with respect to climate change. It had the ambition to support the fight against climate change through integrating young people in the political process by providing a bottom-up approach.
The project started from the premise that the results and objectives of EU policies and actions in the field of climate change are mostly unknown among young people. Under this light, the project strived to raise awareness and sought to intergrate youth civil society organizations and local authorities with political discussions in order to increase their role in these discussions within the democratic system of the EU. Tackling climate change from the bottom up with the particular participation of youth ensured it success and bore the opportunity to bring Europe closer to its citizens.
