Startup Europe Awards Final Event

The Startup Europe Awards, as an initiative that has been specifically created in order to help promote startups and the idea of entrepreneurship all around Europe. Just like it is with every other type of award, the Startup Europe Awards are a great way for people to show their skills and their ideas and get a chance to win a price for what it is that they do best.

StartUp Europe Awards (SEUA) is an open innovation initiative promoted by the European Commission and Finnova Foundation in collaboration with Startup Europe; it is supported by the President of the European Parliament, the President of the Committee of the Regions, the Vice-President of the Economic and Social Committee and several members from the European Parliament. StartUp Europe Awards is sponsored by StartUp Europe Accelerator.

SEUA serves as a communication tool for society, encouraging collaboration between the public and business sectors and promoting innovative initiatives. Its aim is to promote the creation of alliances enabling in every region concerned to gather entities and the support programmes for entrepreneurs with local and international partners.

The StartUp Europe Awards Final ceremony on the 15th November will be chaired by the European Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society, Mariya Gabriel. It will also count on the honorific presence of the Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova; the Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boiko Borísov, in addition to other European Prime Ministers and Ministers; the Founder & CEO of Factory, President of Startup Portugal and Angel Investor in Europe, Simon Schaefer and the Senior Vice President & General Manager at Dell EMC, CEE and chair of the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition Governing Board, Anja Monrad.

#SEUAFinal will be divided into two sessions. The first will take place on Wednesday 14 November at 16:00h, during the Startup Europe Ambassador 2nd Campfire, in which non-digital startups will be recognized. During the whole session, which will take place between 13:00h and 17:00h, topics such as reports on the progress made by the ambassadors in their own countries, how to strengthen the media impact of the Ambassadors in their local media and achievements of the projects supported by Startup Europe will be discussed.

On the StartUp Europe Awards Summit that will take place on 15 November from 9:30h to 17:00h, the digital startups will be recognized in a ceremony at 9:50h. Besides the ceremony, there will be panels like building a startup-friendly environment in Western Balkans, how to improve framework conditions for startups in the CEE region or connecting CEE and Western Balkans with developed EU startup ecosystems – ingredients for success, among others.

It is important to promote entrepreneurship and startups all around Europe and the world. These awards are a great way to do that. After all, we must never forget about the fact that, entrepreneurship and startups have been and will always be the way to build the economy of a region, a city, a country and eventually the entire world.
