During the 21st century, learning is constant and ever-present, taking place in all kinds of settings and instances. Knowledge has been digitalized and this is why Digital Competence has been viewed as is a transversal key competence. It is a relevant and necessary skill in the highly competitive labour market, but for everyday life as well.
Moreover, Europe is facing a skills deficit and, during a time of economic crisis, highly-skilled individuals have a better chance of finding a job. With an estimated 90% of jobs requiring digital skills in the near future, it is essential that education and training systems provide individuals with the required skills (EU2020).
The project PATHWAYS4EMPLOY seeks to address this need by creating an innovative way to enhance digital competences and considers the DIGCOMP framework as a reference to assess them. Το this end, there will be a web assessment tool that will allow users to assess their digital competences, that have been acquired through non-formal and informal education and lack formal validation. The tool will be an openly accessible, digital competence portfolio, that will be able to be adopted at European level by target groups and stakeholders, contributing to the development of a European Area of Skills and Qualifications.
