Training for Horizon 2020 Proposal Writing

A few words about the training course

Preparing a H2020 proposal is very competitive and can be stressful unless you are very well prepared. It’s not enough to have a good scientific idea you need to know to develop it and present it in a manner that is appealing to the evaluators. In order to do that, you need to have a good understanding of what the application asks in each section and also know what the evaluators are looking for when they evaluate proposals.

Horizon 2020 (H2020): The new EU Research and Innovation Program

The European Union’s Horizon 2020 Programme (H2020) is the EU’s main instrument for financing research and innovation in Europe. It will last from 2014 until 2020, with a budget of nearly 80 billion Euros. H2020 replaces the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and combines all of the research and innovation funding previously provided by the EU: The Framework Program (FP), innovation aspects of Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP), and EU contribution to the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

The new programme is based on three pillars: excellent science, industrial leadership, and societal challenges, and finances all types of activities from frontier research to close-to market innovation. The programme is open for applications from research centres, universities or private companies, as well as researchers, both individually and through a consortium from Europe or Third Countries.

Who is the course for?

The training course is for anyone thinking of applying for H2020 either as a coordinator or as support staff. This two-day training course will provide you with an insight on what makes a successful proposal and will equip you with the essential skills to develop and submit a completive bid.

What will you learn?

This training course will equip you with a solid understanding of the evaluation process, how to translate the call topic in a research proposal and how to develop your ideas in a strong coherent proposal. During the two-day course we will go through the sections of the proposal and explain in detail how the different parts need to be developed.

More specifically you will learn how to read the call topic, how to write for H2020 evaluators, what makes each section excellent, how to address impact clearly and how to develop a convincing implementation plan.
