According to the European Commission, "entrepreneurship is an individual’s ability to turn ideas into action. It includes creativity, innovation, risk-taking, ability to plan and manage projects in order to achieve objectives". Entrepreneurship is the key to competitive and innovative economies, as well as crucial in achieving the objectives of several European sectorial policies. It is also the key to the creation of jobs and growth.
Rapidly increasing demand and production in global markets have put pressure on European entrepreneurship to change and be more flexible. Europe needs to overcome challenges and remove obstacles to entrepreneurial activities. Furthermore, entrepreneurship education should be supported and offer to Europeans, the required skills, and competences. Remarkably, only 37% of European citizens would like to establish their own company, compared to 51% of people in the United States and 57% in China.
