SEW Larissa 2024 was held with a large number of participants on Thursday, March 14, at the JOIST Innovation Park in Larissa.
Startup Europe Week, which is under the auspices of the European Commission, is the largest European startup entrepreneurship event. The event was organized by Institute for Entrepreneurship Development, the Association of Thessalian Businesses and Industries – STHEV, JOIST Innovation Park, the Association of Industries of Thessaly and Central Greece (AITCG), PRAXI Network and the Region of Thessaly.
The Discussion Panels and the SEW Larissa 2024 Interview
The central theme of the event was “This is Your Place to Grow”. Through panel discussions, young startupers as well as entrepreneurs described to the audience how they turned their ideas into action, creating their businesses and overcoming every difficulty. The ultimate goal of the startupers was both to provide advice and to inspire those interested in developing their business plan. The entrepreneurs on the other hand tried through their expertise to give a clear picture of entrepreneurship in Greece, informing the participants about the available support programs.
In particular, the event started with a roundtable discussion entitled “Startupers and Young Entrepreneurs Tell Their Stories”, where Panagiotis Karakitsios, CEO of Geomiso, Serafim Moustakidis, Artificial Intelligence expert, Entrepreneur & Founding Partner of Innovative Businesses and Dimitris Balaouras, co-founder & CTO of helvia. ai, shared their experience about building their startup from scratch to great growth and success.
This was followed by a roundtable discussion titled “This is Your Place to Grow: Supporting Start-ups in Thessaly” where Kostas Vavekis, Director of the PRAXI Network, Anastasios Lappas, President of the Cooperative Bank of Thessaly & Member of the Board of Directors of AITCG , Elena Kamateri, General Manager of STHEV, Vangelis Gagos, Member of the Board of Directors of AITCG & President of HELLAS STONES GAGGOS Bros, Haris Kalogirou, Tech Entrepreneur & Investor, Vasilis Avramoudis, General Manager of JOIST and Dimitris Gatos, General Manager of the Cooperative Bank of Thessaly, presented the landscape of start-ups in Thessaly, demonstrating the role of this type of business in finding solutions to the problems that plague the Region. At the same time, they provided an update on the funding programs available today and how each one, through the organization to which they belong, tries to help young startupers.
The first part of the event ended with the interview of Dominikos Pritis, Founder & CEO of MyRoomie, where he recounted the evolution of his company, which was awarded as “Rising Startup” of the year at the Startuper Awards 2023.
The Interactive Quiz
The second part of SEW Larissa 2024 was followed by an interactive quiz where participants answered a series of questions about startups in the Thessaly region. The participants who scored the three highest scores won the following prizes:
