WHAT IS INTERREG NEXT MED?

Interreg NEXT MED, funded by the European Union, supports transnational cooperation to address shared challenges in the Mediterranean region. As part of the broader Interreg initiative, it promotes collaboration among EU Member States, non-EU countries, and territories to foster European territorial cooperation.

With a budget of €253 million, Interreg NEXT MED aims to foster smart, sustainable, and equitable development throughout the Mediterranean basin. The program focuses on facilitating long-lasting, wide-reaching cooperation and multilevel governance. Its mission is to fund projects addressing socio-economic, environmental, and governance challenges at the Mediterranean level.

Key areas of cooperation include adopting advanced technologies, enhancing SME competitiveness and job creation, energy efficiency, water management, climate change adaptation, transitioning to a circular and resource-efficient economy, education and training, and healthcare.
