Educational Bingo Makes Learning Math Fun and Easy

Every child in school has subjects that they enjoy, and some are more difficult. When asked, children tend to vote math as their least favourite of all the subjects taught in school. One of the best ways to turn a challenging subject into something fun is by turning it into a game.

As parents, most of us learned to play bingo games when we were very young. Bingo originally started off as a teaching game for young kids to learn how to recognize animals, plants and a host of other subjects.

Today, there are adaptations to teach number and colour recognition to preschoolers; more complex math topics are introduced as the child begins attending school.  Educational bingo can be particularly useful in teaching elementary school students math concepts like addition and subtraction. Once they reach middle school and up, math bingo is still a fun way for them to learn math topics that are appropriate to their grade.

Fun Educational Bingo Resources

In addition to using flashcards to teach their children, parents can also use bingo as a teaching tool. Bingo has been shown to be an excellent way to teach kids mathematics painlessly while having fun. Here are some great techniques and resources you can use to combine bingo and math into a fun subject.

  • Math Bingo for One – Balance your time interacting and teaching your child when things are hectic can be difficult. Believe it or not, it is possible for kids to play bingo alone without the need for you to be involved.  Anna at the Measured Mom blog offers some free printable multiplication cards on her website that kids can do while you are busy. These bingo cards are specifically designed for children just starting to learn their multiplication tables.
