Every year, the projects submitted and implemented under the Erasmus Plus European Programme, vary in number and in impact. Every year the calls for proposals allow the organization to develop new and innovative ideas that will create a different impact on the European social market.
Among the many calls of 2019 is the KA3 EACEA/36/2018 Erasmus + Programme for education and training. This call is open until 19/03/2019. Education and Training are the key factors that always have and always will address Europe’s major issues such as unemployment and social inclusion. They can harness the significant opportunities linked to the current and future transformations. There is a clear need for strong and targeted actions in an EU and Member State level.
IED, as an expert in the field of EU Programmes and in particular Erasmus Plus, can be a very strong partner for this call. Here in the Institute, we aim at the 3rd priority of this call: Promoting innovative technology in the field of providing career guidance. This priority aims at:
- Supporting greater understanding of career management skills
- Exploring the use of innovative technology to support the development of career management skills
IED’s team of writers is ready to develop a ground-breaking project proposal to apply for this call. But what will the project be all about? There are two major steps that will be taken during the implementation process:
- The project will develop a comprehensive catalog of career management skills
The catalog will be developed based on a defined methodology, will have a research basis and will be updated by changing practices in the labor market. The catalog will also be developed based on the shifts in the nature of work and how possible careers might evolve in the future.
The catalog of skills should be clearly described in terms of knowledge, skills, and attitudes and each skill should be mapped to a different level of proficiency. The catalog will be an accessible reference point for career guidance practitioners and other intermediaries offering support to individuals. The project should develop an effective approach to support the presentation, reuse, and adaptation of the catalog of skills. The project will consider communication, dissemination, and support for use of the catalog to guide practitioners and stakeholders.
- The project will explore the use of innovative technology in supporting the development of different career and management skills
The project will test, pilot and implement innovative ways to use the catalog of career management skills to support individuals in their careers. The catalog should be applied in a holistic way and through appropriate innovative technology it will identify skills’ needs, offer guidance and support testing or self-assessment. It will also offer to learn in different forms, and recognize skills development or progress. The innovative technology (apps, games, online tests) should ensure that the catalog is applied in a relevant way to meet end user needs but also, ensure wide dissemination and accessibility to target groups such as workers who may not have direct access to career guidance
Here in IED we are determined to continue our actions in Career Guidance Improvement. Over the past few years, we have gained a significant amount of experience through projects that we have implemented such as LEADER: Learning And Decision making Resources. This project was aimed at providing career guidance practitioners and tutors with the tools they needed to implement Career Management Skills while utilizing certain features of modern ICT. The project also sought to improve the quality of the learning and guidance process by developing key skills and experimenting with new technologies.
