International Scientific Conference on COVID-19's Impact on Democracy and Gender Perspectives

In a pivotal exploration of the COVID-19 pandemic’s multifaceted impacts on democratic values and gender dynamics, an esteemed consortium of international organizations announces the eagerly anticipated virtual conference, “The impact of COVID-19 crisis on diverse democratic perspectives through gender perspective.” This significant event, part of the CERV HEARD project, will take place on January 30, 2024, from 9 AM to 3 PM CET, in the MS Teams virtual environment (online).

Organized by the Faculty of Organisation Studies in Novo mesto (SI), CBE SUD Luberon (FR), Associazione Inco-Molfetta (IT), Nordic Diaspora Forum (SE), FAJUB (PT), The Institute Of Entrepreneurship Development (GR), FECE (BG), Commune di Vimercate (IT), Cardet (CY), and Municipality Mislata (SP), the conference aims to delve deeply into the pandemic’s influence on democratic institutions, human rights, and women’s work-life balance.

A key feature of the conference will be the presentation of short communications by contributors, lasting approximately 5-10 minutes each. These talks will highlight the latest research findings and draw attention to significant challenges and developments in the field. Audience engagement with the contributors and the moderator will foster a dynamic and interactive discussion.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to contribute to the Collection of the papers HEARD 2024. For those wishing to publish more extensive works, options include the Journal for Universal ExcellenceRUO and Future Challenges – IP, both of which offer wide academic visibility and impact. All submissions will undergo a usual peer-review procedure.

The conference will cover critical topics, including:

  1. Democracy and COVID-19: Examining the resilience of democratic institutions, gender inclusivity in decision-making, and the pandemic’s effect on political processes.
  2. Human Rights and COVID-19: Addressing human rights challenges during the pandemic with a focus on gender-specific implications.
  3. Work and Life Balance for Women in COVID-19: Assessing the pandemic’s impact on women’s work-life balance and gender parity initiatives.

Contributors are invited to submit structured abstracts and short biographies to maja.pucelj@fos-unm.si by January 10, 2024. Acceptance notifications will be sent out by January 17, 2024. Interested individuals are encouraged to reserve their seats for the conference here.
