On 17 December 2021, Health Hub, the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH), had an excellent opportunity to showcase its important digital health services to the leadership of the Ministry of Digital Governance of Greece.
Specifically, Mr. Kyriakos Pierrakakis, Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Georgios Georgantas, Deputy Minister, Theodoros Livanios, Deputy Minister, and Leonidas Christopoulos, secretary-general, were on a scheduled visit to the Municipality of Trikala to learn about the novel applications and innovations of technology and the actions of the Municipality and e-trikala SA.
One of their stops during their visit was at GiSeMi HUB, The Innovation & Entrepreneurship Hub, where representatives of Health Hub presented the EDIH’s capabilities and its potential for the digital transformation of the Health and Pharma sector.
A few words about Health Hub
The Health Hub is a candidate European Digital Innovation Hub in Thessaly, lying in the center of Greece, acting as a reference point of Digital Health at regional, national and European level. It is a one-stop-shop that delivers digital transformation services to SMEs and public administrations of the health and pharma sector and supports them in boosting their outreach, precision, innovation capacity, and networking efforts.
Despite its rather recent launch, Health Hub has remarkable work to show so far. Being an innovative and outward-looking organization, Health Hub has already signed more than 10 Memoranda of Cooperation with other European Digital Innovation Hubs for the joint development of brand-new services, the transfer of know-how and expertise between borders, the organization of brokerage events, and info days on businesses’ internationalization.
What makes Health Hub successful is the important organizations behind it and the hard work they have put in bringing this new EDIH into life: The Region of Thessaly, the National Organization for Medicines, academic and research institutions, research & technology organizations, healthcare providers, and business support organizations, with GiSemi Hub and e-trikala SA among them. The coordinator of Health remains the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (iED) that operates in the city of Larisa since 2015.
