The development of human resources happens by means of on job training, experience sharing, various seminars, workshops, etc. the leading companies have special departments dedicated to the development and training of their staff. Such companies spend around 2-10% of their salary budget on the professional development of their employees. Besides a favorable impact on the financial results of the company, the trainings create a comfortable atmosphere in the company, increase the motivation of the employees and boost the loyalty.

What to start from?

In order the trainings were effective, they have to be perfectly planned. The system of trainings has to meet the requirements and targets of the company. When developing the curriculum, the level of the employees and their fields of activities have to be taken into account. Only the topics which will bring added value to the company have to be considered. The programs of the trainings have to help the employees achieve the targets set in front of them, they should also comply with the strategy of the organization.

First of all, the HR department has to conduct a gap analysis and define the level of professionalism of the employees and decide which skills and knowledge are missing in order they could meet the set targets. When the tasks of the trainings are defined, the management should decide either it will be an internal or an external training. All the pros and cons should be considered. After that an appropriate form of education has to be chosen. It can be a seminar, a workshop, a lecture, etc.

The managers have to create a positive motivation among their employees in order the latest could percept the trainings as an additional benefit and not as a possibility to skip the working day or, even worse, as a punishment. The employees should clearly understand what for they attend the training and how they will use the knowledge and skills acquired in practice.
