Can social entrepreneurship facilitate the inclusion of immigrants in labor market?

Due to the current political and social situation in the world, Europe has faced the problem of huge waves of immigrants. The European Union thinks of the ways they can help the refugees assimilate and get settled in a new country. The problem of employment of those people is a burning one. Here we can appeal to the experience of the USA as they also had a similar issue. There is no need to reinvent the wheel, it’s better to use the best practice of other countries.

Social Entrepreneurship

The social entrepreneurship dates back to the 19th century. The term itself appeared in 1970 and denoted commercial organizations the targets and missions of which corresponded to those of non-commercial ones. That time the government invested millions of dollars to the social enterprises which were aimed at combatting poverty, discrimination and leveraging education and healthcare. Those enterprises solved the social problems by means of the produces goods, delivered services and creation of the work places for the immigrants and poor people. For example, in 1884, in Chicago the first “Hull House” was opened. The enterprise delivered a social support to the immigrants and their children. There was also a school with specialized courses for them with free meals. Many graduates of that school became outstanding figures in such spheres of activity as education, legal and vindication of the rights of women. It should also be the case in modern Europe.

Social enterprises will help greatly the immigrants. The organizations which organize the courses will help the latest to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge in order to be able to work in a new country. Language schools will enable faster socialization of the immigrants and will make their life in a new country more comfortable. Knowing the language, they will be able to find a job, which will solve the question of unemployment. Social enterprises may also create workplaces for the refugees and other immigrants, which will positively impact the economy of the country. Moreover, the social enterprises may be aimed at the protection of the environment, improvement of the healthcare, support of the people in need, etc. The immigrants may work in those companies as well and make their own contribution into their new county of life. The work in those organizations will not only bring them money but also facilitate their assimilation with a new society.

The immigrants will become conscious citizens of the country and the rate of crime and difficult families will decrease.
