The digital divide continues to be a major barrier for women who are neither in education,
employment, nor training (NEETs). Limited access to digital skills often restricts their professional
opportunities, reinforcing socio-economic disadvantages. To address this challenge, the Coding4WIN
project has successfully developed and finalized an innovative ICT and coding training curriculum,
designed to empower women NEETs with the skills necessary for today’s digital economy.
A Curriculum Designed for Impact
The Coding4WIN Curriculum was developed as part of the Erasmus+ KA220-ADU initiative, aiming to
enhance the digital competencies of adult women NEETs through a structured and interactive
learning approach. Led by Symplexis (Greece) and co-created by a consortium of six organizations
from Denmark, Greece, Cyprus, Portugal, and Turkey, the project ensures that its educational
content is accessible, inclusive, and aligned with European labor market demands.
The curriculum consists of six interactive modules, validated through Open Badges and aligned with
ESCO (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications, and Occupations), ensuring that learners
receive recognizable and transferable skills in the digital domain.
The Core Training Modules
The Coding4WIN Curriculum provides training across three levels (beginner, intermediate, and
advanced), covering:
- Basic Digital Skills – Introducing foundational concepts in digital literacy, device usage, and
cybersecurity. - How to Use Computers in the Workplace – Focused on office software, time management
tools, and workplace collaboration. - Digital Tools for Communication & Collaboration – Practical applications of communication
tools like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Trello. - Basics of Computer Programming – Covering essential programming concepts and logic.
- Coding in Everyday Life – Demonstrating real-life applications of coding and computational
thinking. - Computational Thinking – Enhancing problem-solving and analytical skills through coding
exercises.
Each module is designed to be interactive, engaging, and adaptable to different learning paces,
ensuring flexibility for learners with varying levels of digital exposure.
Addressing the Digital Skills Gap for Women NEETs
The Coding4WIN project is grounded in the reality that women NEETs often lack access to quality
education and training. Studies show that a significant percentage of young women in Europe fall
into this category, facing increased difficulty in entering the workforce. By providing free, accessible,
and high-quality training materials, Coding4WIN aims to increase employability, build confidence,
and open doors to new career opportunities for women who might otherwise be left behind in the
digital transition.
Next Steps & Future Opportunities
With the curriculum now complete, the next steps involve pilot testing and full implementation. The
Coding4WIN Digital Learning Hub will serve as the central platform for trainers, adult educators,
and learners to access the modules and resources. The project also plans to evaluate the
effectiveness of the curriculum through real-world applications, ensuring continuous improvement
and wider adoption.
By equipping women NEETs with essential digital and coding skills, Coding4WIN is breaking barriers,
fostering digital inclusion, and shaping a future where technology empowers all.
