The European Commission has awarded grants to 31 consortia for running projects on water innovation, waste recycling, earth observation, climate action or natural resources. All in all, more than 550 organisations from 48 different countries, including 25 EU Member States, will be involved in the new environment projects.
The projects will run for three to four years and range from deploying environmental living labs across Europe for improving air quality in cities to developing waste management strategies for tourist cities.

These environment projects were selected from among 625 proposals submitted for the 2015 two-stage calls for proposal.
A new round of calls for proposals will be launched in October 2016.
