Internet of Things in Greece

internet-of-things

Greek participation in European Projects seems to be rising over the past few years. Statistics show that a vast number of these projects is focused on the Internet of Things (IoT). Due to those projects, there is a growing collaboration and networking between the academic and the business community. These collaborations leave space for a lot of different innovative actions.

One of the most relevant results of the Internet of Things in Greece is the fact that with all these projects, Greece has access to many funding opportunities that could help bright idea get implemented. Indeed, some of the world’s smartest ideas never see the light due to lack of funding. In Greece, scientists finally have the means necessary to conduct their research through European Projects. Especially scientists focusing on the Internet of Things.

The scientific world is not the only field that is greatly affected by the IoT. As mentioned above, businesses are utterly linked to this. As a result, more and more companies are taking part in projects focusing on the IoT. The main reason as to why that is is due to the fact that the Internet of Things is able to create innovation that can be turned into profit for businesses.

The simplest way to look at this is all the new and innovative products that will appear on the market based on the Internet of Things technology. IoT allows people to connect, it creates smart machines and home appliances, and it can also be applied to the simplest products and processes. These can be great opportunities for every business.

Each European Project, focusing on the Internet of Things, needs to be able to address the needs of all the European countries but at the same time, focus on the needs of the specific partner countries. When it comes to Greece, the needs are pretty much the same as the rest of the European world.

However, due to the economic event of the past 10 years, there is a growing need, in Greece for innovation and entrepreneurship. The Internet of Things can create new job opportunities, and this is something that every country in the European area can use.

The RESTART project seeks to assess the main skill shortages and barriers in the evolving 4.0 industry sector in Europe and promote VET initiatives on digital skills by designing updated training courses that focus on the uptake of Industry 4.0 digital skills. It also aims to provide e-leadership skills to students, workers and managers that will lead to better employment and career opportunities and make companies more competitive and innovative. Finally, it will foster the Europe-wide recognition of these skills through the use of ECVET.

It is the kind of project that can have a great impact on the European society. For more information about the project feel free to visit the official website of see the information on the our project list page!
