iED presents the development of the SS in DS training scheme. This deliverable is the first intellectual output produced, in the framework of the European project “SUSTAINABLE SERVICE-IN-DS: Involving Persons with Down Syndrome in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals through Service Learning”.
A Few Words about SUSTAINABLE SERVICE-IN-DS Project
This Erasmus+ project has a twofold aim. Namely, the support of people with down syndrome (PDS) and their supports, by enhancing their competences; and, to a greater extent their social inclusion. In addition, the project’s aim contains the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), by the activation of the PDS. Consequently, in order to achieve this goal, an effective training method was used, known as service-learning. Despite the efficiency of this methodology, the lack of knowledge on service-learning and the PDS’ capacities, has resulted the implementation to be deprived.

SS in DS Training Scheme Presentation
The completion of the project’s first deliverable was due to the contribution of people with down syndrome; professionals working with PDS; relatives; other supports; and, experts in the fields of service-learning and the SDGs. The training scheme developed, is a formation that serves training needs and expectations, by setting general and specific learning objectives. Among the objectives set, are the roles and competencies of PDS that need to be developed, for the improvement of their social inclusion and participation, through Sustainable Development Goals. Finally, it also includes the methodological approach and specifications, which will be developed in further stages of the project.
Institute of Entrepreneurship Development strongly believes that the SS in DS Training Scheme is a promising step, towards the social inclusion of people with down syndrome and the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
