The first meeting of the partners for the new YEU international project “Certification of the qualifications of youth workers in NGOs – road to greater recognition of youth work” was held between 18th and 19th February in Brussels/Belgium and hosted by YEU International and AEGEE Europe.
During the meeting, the partners’ consortium analyzed and planned the important aspects of the two-year project which is dedicated to the certification of the informal qualifications gained in the youth activities, such as non-formal education or peer education.
The idea of the project is to make a “transfer of innovation” between YEU and the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development that implemented a similar project in the past using knowledge and experiences from the certification process of the “consultant in social economy”.
The project will have several phases in order to create:
– A system and diploma that can certify the competences gained in the youth work;
– Advocacy actions and initiatives dedicated to the recognition of youth work and non-formal education;
– A pan-European network of different actors and individuals to advocate the greater recognition of youth work in the future;
European Commission’s “Lifelong Learning Programme”, managed by National Agency of Portugal will finance the project and YEU will be managing the project from the Administrative Office situated in Faro, Portugal.
This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
