Recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning are the cornerstone of lifelong learning strategy, as learning outcomes must be recognized and evaluated, no matter where and how they have been achieved.
IED has been involved in several projects connected with recognition and validation of non-formal and informal learning qualification.
An excellent example it would be IED’s Project EC-ASE, European Certification for Advisors/Educators of Social Economy.
This project focused on the validation of qualifications that were acquired informally by executives of training and counseling institutions in the social economy sector, with a simultaneous creation of a certificate of a European dimension through the project implementation.
In the same time, the project focused on the facilitation of employees’ mobility in training and counseling structures, through the validation of non-formal learning and skills obtained informally.
Moreover, the project targeted to the individualization of the learning process through the specialization of the employees’ training needs, before they become certified. The wider application of certification procedures and methodologies that were developed within the framework of previous projects.
The project aimed towards the certification of informal qualifications and the establishment of a European certificate of qualifications with the title “Advisor/Educator of Social Economy”, which would allow the professional growth of executives of advisory/counseling structures, the establishment of a European standard certification, the facilitation of the comparison of skills and dexterities and finally, the development of social enterprises. It was also focused on the promotion of qualifications’ transparency of employed individuals in institutions of training and counseling in the social economy sector.
