The Prosoa Project

prosoa-rural

How easy is it to set up a business nowadays? And how can people in remote areas build businesses that will be successful and will provide them with the desired profit? These two questions are very important and need to be answered for young people all around Europe to learn about their opportunities in the real world of business.

Rural areas are certainly the areas that were severely plagued by the financial crisis. Building a business in a rural area is not just about making a profit for yourself. It also about being able to support the local community and help local societies profit as well. The problem is that many of the people living in rural areas do not know how they will be able to build the right business for themselves. They lack training and that can be the biggest problem.

The “PROSOA RURAL” project aims to develop materials that support educators in rural training centers so that they can transmit these values to young people. These materials will be based on a methodology focused on the promotion of active participation and social entrepreneurship linked to the conservation of Cultural Heritage and Traditions at local, regional, national and European level.

Objectives

The main objectives of the project are:

  1. Raise social awareness among young people in rural areas
  2. Improve the skills of young people to become more participative and active citizens.
  3. Promote social entrepreneurship among young people in rural areas.
  4. Create a greater commitment and awareness about the necessity of conserving the Cultural Heritage and the Traditions.

On one hand the promotion of active participation in society among youth, will help to foster the roots among young people and try to stop the loss of population caused by the flight of young people from rural areas, (with the risk that this entails for the disappearance of villages and therefore of their cultural heritage).

On the other hand, the impulse of social entrepreneurship contributes to the implementation of local development initiatives linked to the cultural heritage and the environment where they live, becoming even possible entrepreneurial initiatives that end up in a business, which would encourage settlement in the rural areas, and therefore, the maintenance of the villages and their traditional customs.
