Economy and its impact on society
One of the major factors that could change society is, of course, the labour market. Try to think about this with this example. Let’s assume for a moment that you live in a country whose finances are relatively lower than the countries around it. Automatically, that country is going to be considered less important.
Even in Europe, some countries are considered to be in a lower position than some others. They are not considered Third World countries but the way they are being treated sometimes could mean that. Now, within the country, we noticed that the economic factor is separating people.
Different levels within the society
Every country has those people who have more money than they can handle and those that do not have anything. The first consider that they occupy the higher ground compared to the second. As a result, this creates different statuses within societies and sometimes it takes away the ability of people to make progress with their lives. Unfortunately, in some countries, the income is very important when it comes to education. Education is not free for everyone in some countries.
If a person is not able to pay for school or college they are most likely not going to receive the appropriate education needed for them to, later on, be able to build their own business, a greater status, and in general, make significant progress in their lives. Now, when something like that is happening it is nearly impossible to consider that social innovation is a possibility for that particular country.
Urban areas are no longer lands of opportunity
Urban areas are of course the place where most people gather. Unfortunately, if the labour market is already drowning, more people arriving is not going to solve the problem. On the contrary, it will create higher rates of unemployment which will eventually lead to the economy of the city breaking down.
Every country out there has a rural area. Unfortunately in many different countries, rural areas are not being taken advantage of the right way. Young people tend to leave those areas to go to the big cities. However, it is those young people that have innovative ideas to create rural entrepreneurship.
Young people building careers through entrepreneurship
Try to imagine it like this. Young people creating new job opportunities in rural areas in actually enhancing the qualities of rural societies by bringing in social innovation. When new businesses are being built around villages or smaller cities, more people will be able to find work. It has been observed that in a few countries around Europe a lot of people are leaving the big cities to go and work in rural areas.
Bringing social innovation through entrepreneurship
They can find employment there are a lot easier, the rhythms of the rural areas are not as fast as the amount of the city which is something that a lot of people are looking for and most importantly, there soil for social innovation is still very soft. People can “plant” their trees, try to regain their status and most importantly, they are allowed to make progress on a personal as well as professional level.
If we try to imagine a country as a heat map we will notice that at the moment urban areas are bright red, the areas outside of the cities are turning yellow and rural areas are mostly green. Now instead of having this three coloured map imagine having a neutral map where the dominant colour will be yellow which will mean that, jobs are being equally distributed, salaries are being equally distributed and so on.
Creating the labour market of the future
Especially for young people, rural entrepreneurship is a remarkable opportunity to bring something new and innovative to the labour market and if possible create a new era of innovation and advancement. When companies like Apple or Microsoft were first created people did not believe that they would become the colossal enterprises they are right now.
All major enterprises around the world were first created by young inspired entrepreneurs looking for the opportunity to show off their skills, build a bright career and enhance progress and innovation in their field. Every generation deserves the same opportunity. Now with urban entrepreneurship becoming more and more difficult to access rural entrepreneurship is the key to bring forth innovation on a professional as well as social level.
