Exchanging experiences and best practices in Roma employment

On 4 and 5 April 2017 in the city of Diepenbeek (Belgium) experts from 9 countries of EU (Czech Republic, Italy, Spain, Greece, France, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania and Belgium) met in order to discuss the issue of Roma employment.

“Employ me” Conference of Awareness Raising Campaign, organized by UC LIMBURG VZW, was carried out in the framework of “PAL – Fighting discrimination and anti-Gypsyism in education and employment in EU”  European project (co-founded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme of European Union), a project that aims to address the issue of ant-Gypsyism and to improve the level of social inclusion of Roma people.

The 1st Day of the Conference, the members of the Consortium presented good practices from every country over the topics of employment rights for Roma people and the employment and economic alternatives for Roma in EU.

During the 2nd Day of the Conference the panelists exchanged their experiences about social entrepreneurship for ROMA, how the IT sector can be an opportunity for them, and good employment examples of ROMA support centers.

Within this framework, it came up that a lot of remarkable examples for the ROMA employment exist in every country. In addition, the actions of many organizations and support centers that forge ROMA employment were spread among the partnership.
