Free Webinar on DevOps Software Development with Dr. Panos Fitsilis

webinar

The Institute of Entrepreneurship Development invites you to join our webinar entitled;

“DevOps software development for ΙοΤ at the energy sector”

on May 25th , 2020 at 13:00 CEST, with Dr. Panos Fitsilis, Professor at the University of Thessaly.

This is the first in a series of webinars organized by the Institute of Entrepreneurship Development introducing sector experts from Greece. The webinars are being implemented in the framework of the “Internet of Energy, Education and Qualification” project, which is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. They are addressed to entrepreneurs, researchers and organizations in the energy sector, but also to those interested in IoE and the changes it will bring.

About the topic:

DevOps is defined as “a set of practices intended to reduce the time between committing a change to a system and the change being placed into normal production, while ensuring high quality“. DevOps-based CI/CD (Continuous Integration & Delivery) automation has become important in providing agile and economical services based on IoT systems combined with edge and cloud computing.

At the same time an old industry, energy industry, is going high tech with target to manage demand, reduce waste, and harness new energy sources and producers. A number of innovations is reshaping the energy industry, such as: smart meters, smart homes that use sensor-tagged equipment and AI smart assistants to minimize energy usage, microgrids that combine solar panels, fuel cells, and battery energy storage to power smart homes, electrical cars, two way energy distribution networks.

All the above need a new cloud based smart energy applications development paradigm, such as DevOps, for delivering electricity to the right customer at the right time and in the right manner.
