Are you a young athlete aged 18–30 based in Estonia? Would you like to develop entrepreneurial skills, explore social innovation and have the opportunity to present your business idea at a European competition in Budapest?
The GameChangers project, through iED OU, invites young athletes in Estonia to participate in a free online training programme focused on sports and social entrepreneurship.
Through this opportunity, participants will learn how to transform innovative ideas into social business plans, develop valuable entrepreneurial skills and compete for the chance to represent Estonia at the GameChangers European Final in Budapest in February 2027.
The selected representative will receive dedicated mentoring and travel to Budapest, with travel and accommodation expenses covered by the project, to present their business idea to an international audience of judges, investors, academics and other stakeholders.
No previous business experience or developed business idea is required. All you need is the willingness to learn, create and explore new opportunities.
What Is the GameChangers Training Programme?
The GameChangers training programme is designed to help young athletes discover how sports can become a driving force for entrepreneurship and positive social change.
Through an interactive online learning platform, participants will explore the fundamentals of social entrepreneurship, develop entrepreneurial thinking and learn how to turn creative ideas into practical business plans.
The programme includes 10 short educational modules in English, each accompanied by a quiz to assess participants’ knowledge and progress.
Training is completely free of charge, fully online and self-paced, allowing participants to learn at their own convenience without following a fixed schedule.
In addition to completing the 10 training modules, participants must complete Module 11: Survey. This final module is essential for their participation to be officially recorded within the project.
By completing the training, participants will gain knowledge and skills that can help them identify social challenges, explore entrepreneurial opportunities and develop innovative solutions through sports.
From Online Training to the European Final in Budapest
The GameChangers programme goes beyond online education, offering participants the opportunity to develop their own social business ideas and compete at European level.
Following the training, participants will develop and submit business plans focused on sports and social entrepreneurship, exploring how entrepreneurial initiatives can address real social challenges and create a positive impact within communities.
The selection process for participants representing iED OU will take place in three stages:
Stage 1: Selection of the Top 5 Business Plans
The five best business plans submitted by participants representing iED OU will be shortlisted based on the programme’s selection process.
Stage 2: Selection of the Final Representative
From the five shortlisted business plans, one participant will be selected to represent Estonia at the GameChangers European Final.
Stage 3: Mentoring and Preparation
The selected participant will receive dedicated mentoring sessions to further develop their business idea, strengthen their business plan and prepare for the final presentation.
In February 2027, the selected participant will travel to Budapest, Hungary, where the GameChangers final competition will take place as part of the project’s European conference.
The Estonian representative will join the seven finalists from across Europe, presenting their entrepreneurial idea to a panel of judges, investors, academics and other invited guests.
Travel and accommodation expenses for the selected participant will be covered by the project.
The European winner will also have the opportunity to receive further support from the GameChangers consortium to help turn their entrepreneurial idea into reality.
Who Can Participate?
The open call is addressed to young athletes aged 18–30 who are based in Estonia and are interested in entrepreneurship, social innovation and the positive impact of sports.
Whether you are an amateur athlete or actively involved in sports, the GameChangers programme offers an opportunity to develop new skills and explore how your interests can become the foundation for an entrepreneurial initiative.
You do not need to have previous business experience, specialised entrepreneurial knowledge or an already-developed business idea.
The programme is designed to support participants from the initial stages of learning through to the development of their own social business plans.
What matters most is your motivation to learn, your creativity and your willingness to explore how sports can contribute to solving social challenges.
About the GameChangers Project
GameChangers is a European project that aims to strengthen social entrepreneurship within the sports sector, empowering young people to use sports as a tool for innovation, inclusion and community development.
Recognising the potential of sports to generate positive social change, the project focuses on equipping young volunteers and amateur athletes with the knowledge, skills and resources needed to develop socially responsible entrepreneurial initiatives.
GameChangers explores how sport-based social entrepreneurship can contribute to addressing important societal challenges, including social inclusion, mental well-being and community participation.
Through educational resources, mentoring activities and interactive learning tools, the project supports young people in identifying opportunities, developing innovative solutions and transforming their ideas into sustainable social business initiatives.
The project aims to engage 210 participants in entrepreneurial training, support the development of 50 new social business ideas and strengthen the capacity of youth sports organisations to encourage social innovation.
Additionally, the project’s gamified learning platform aims to engage hundreds of young people, making entrepreneurial education more accessible, interactive and engaging.
By connecting entrepreneurship with sports, GameChangers seeks to empower young people to become active contributors to social change while strengthening the social impact of sports organisations and local communities.
