IED’s actions towards the migration phenomenon

Migration

According to European studies on migration, since 2015 large numbers of migrants from countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and Kosovo, have migrated, legally and illegally, to many different European countries, through Greece, Turkey and Italy.

The migration phenomenon

The economic crisis in Europe has cruel results for migrants, putting them in a difficult position of inactivity for long periods of time. That situation makes their introduction to the European social life a lot more difficult. A sense of personal failure is increased and that brings along problems and new emotional needs related to frustration and loss of self-esteem.

The IED in collaboration with other partners across Europe, has been working hard to solve those problems by implementing projects regarding entrepreneurship, specifically created for the migrants and the difficulties they are facing on the field of employment. And the long term results can guarantee the migrants’ successful introduction and inclusion to the European work force.

Solving the migration problem

SENTIM E-Learning tool

SENTIM is one of the projects that have been implemented, regarding the migration phenomenon. As part of the Erasmus+ call, it started in 2015 and it has nothing but positive results to offer. The SENTIM E-Learning tool for entrepreneurial education for immigrants and professionals who work with immigrants is the key element for the project’s implementation. The tool contains interview templates, workshops learning sessions and communities as well as strength based coaching, all of which work together, as a whole, for the development of entrepreneurial skills and competences for migrants and professionals who work with them.

Land of Hope

Language gaps that exist between the residents of a country and the people migrating in it can be a severe problem, for both natives and migrants. Especially for the second, considering the fact that, without proper knowledge of the basics of the language of a country, no possibility of communication exists.  Land of Hope is an Erasmus+ project aimed at the teaching of languages to migrants starting with the basics for communication, in order to help them with social integration, employment and financial independence.

Urbagri4women

It is important to actively involve migrant women in the European society. Urbagri4women is an implementing AMIF project, specifically created to provide migrant women with the opportunity to escape unemployment by integrating them in the receiving society with urban agricultural practices.

The aim of these projects is simple. To take steps towards securing social integration, employment and financial independence for the migrants, by helping them develop basic skills and key competences. The methodology used to support the entrepreneurship evolution of the immigrants has been developed by the IED and other experienced organizations on sensitive matters like the migration phenomenon.
