Professional Guidance in Europe and the importance of providing useful knowledge and tools to professionals

The European Union pays much attention to the level of professionalism of its citizens as it influences directly the level of economic development of the region.  In 2010, the European Association of Career Guidance was found within a framework of the European strategy Horizon 2020. Its main targets are to secure information and best practice exchange among the professionals of the region, to leverage the standards of education and professionalism, to promote Life-Long Learning, to create the conditions for the constant communication among the members of the Association.

Euroguidance Network

The Euroguidance Network was created to ensure the learning and professional mobility and is supported by the European Commission. The members of the Network provide the consultations on the possibilities of professional studies and internship abroad. They also help to set the contacts with your peers from other countries, which will enable best practice sharing and acquiring new knowledge and skills. If you are interested in this kind of support, the national Euroguidance centers are at your disposal.

Career guidance centers

Huge waves of immigrants, open borders and economic crisis make the European Union think of the ways out of the situation. As the result, the questions of professional standards, skills development, knowledge exchange and fight with a high level of unemployment are high on the agenda. Special career guidance centers were open all over Europe. Their task is to provide the advice on studies and career development possibilities. These centers also help to reveal person’s interests and talents and help to choose the right way of professional development. The visitors of the centers may also attend the career enhancement trainings. The career guidance centers are of high importance for those who decided to move the country and need some help and guidance in finding job.

Education trainings and reforms

Primary and secondary education curriculums are revised in the majority of the European countries in order they could correspond to the modern needs of the society. The curriculum is revised and more applicable knowledge and skills are included into it. More diversity and flexibility in learning opportunities are required. The students have to be able to choose the courses they are interested in, which will improve their professionalism and increase their motivation to study. Special professional courses should be organized in order students and post-graduates had a possibility to improve their skills and acquire the necessary knowledge. Professional networks will also create communication opportunities among the peers, experience sharing and will motivate the networking, which will be favorably reflected on the economy of the European Union.
