ZERO COERCION | Pilot Testing of the Training Program

The partnership of ZERO COERCION project implemented successfully the pilot testings for the training program for dealing with the crisis in people with schizophrenia for home environments during the summer period of 2021.

The target audience of this training program consisted of people with mental health issues, their relatives, and professionals in the field of mental health.

In the final transnational meeting that was held online on October 2021, all partners shared their thoughts and experience on the pilot testing results and feedback received by participants. The general perspective was that all participants of the training were very satisfied with the skills acquired throughout the sessions. It also should be noted that people suffering from schizophrenia communicated that the most interesting topics for them were:

TOPIC 1 – which consists of “the rights of people with schizophrenia”; and,

TOPIC 4 -“Tools to reduce coercive measures at home”.

TOPIC 4 was among the favorites also for professionals, and relatives shared that they found rather useful than the third topic Strategies that avoid the use of coercive measures in home environments since the produced materials provided significant information on how to react in cases of crisis and indicated the best methods of support to offer to a person suffering from those.

All partner countries participated in the process and 6 pilot testings were implemented in Spain, Greece, Romania, Estonia, Lithuania, Slovenia with results not differentiating much among the countries.

The consortium was very satisfied with the level of acceptance of the developed materials since mental health problems create great challenges for people suffering from those and their environment and extra importance was given in order to produce high-quality materials for such a sensitive matter.
