Statistics for Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education

The European Union has developed a strategy Horizon 2020 which sets the targets of the development of various spheres of life and work in the Europe. The sphere of education is not an exception. This strategy creates various possibilities of experience sharing and other interaction between the countries of the Union and those who want to become a part of it. The European Union provides the grants and the projects which will help to improve the higher education in the countries, make it contemporary, innovative and applicable. The list of standards of education was set. As the result, the universities-participants of the Bologna process issue the diplomas of the European standard. These diplomas are recognized by the European companies and give the possibility to work abroad.

Early reads of the project

Such Eastern European countries as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova are the most active in the submission of the applications to the Erasmus+ project. The total number of their applications is 169 which constitutes 33% of total number of applications. The second place in the list of applications submission activity is taken by South Mediterranean countries and the third – by Central Asia. The most passive region turned out to be that of Asia. Although it includes the biggest quantity of the countries which have applied for Erasmus+ project (19 countries), they have submitted only 36 applications. The most active are those countries, which political and economic situations are not stable or not satisfactory. Their citizens try to find all the possible ways to study or work abroad in order to have a better and more stable life. They are more motivated to participate in various projects which can become a good base for the future professional development.

The main targets in the sphere of higher education

  1. Make the system of education up-to-date.
  2. Consistency in the sphere of education of all the European countries.
  3. Experience sharing and the possibility of international internship.
  4. Motivation of innovations.
  5. Leverage the quality of the higher education and make it meet the demand of the modern business and society.
  6. Build international relations among the countries of the world.
  7. Encourage the projects which will eliminate the drawbacks of the systems of education.
  8. Implement the world standards of various spheres of activity into the system of education of the given country.
  9. Encourage the research.
  10. Ensure the access of the majority of people to the higher education.

The final results of the strategy Horizon 2020 will be seen in 2020. For the moment, positive changes are vividly seen. The countries collaborate closer, the students can study abroad, the universities have created international projects, the countries share their experience and best practices. The strategy works and it will definitely give positive results.
