WBL: Professionals job profiles

The importance of work-based learning in European society grows more every single day. There are many things that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to the profession that a person is going to choose. Unfortunately, in many European countries, there is not much information regarding the different professions a person can do. At the same time, it is not easy for people to choose which profession they want since they are not learning the important practical information about it.

This is where work-based learning comes in and this is the reason why it is so important. Work-based learning is not just about learning and developing your skills while working. It is about learning how to do a particular job, you are interested in before you become a professional at it and before you even start with your potential internship. As a result, work-based learning is nowadays very commonly met at schools and universities.

There are many European Projects out there that are focusing on improving and evolving the current form of work-based learning. Projects like DEEP IN WBL are aiming in fostering a closer engagement in WBL by promoting a better understanding of:

  • The role of the different professionals involved in the implementation of the WBL
  • The practices implemented to strengthen cooperation between teachers and trainers to improve the quality of VET, its responsiveness to the labor market needs and ensuring learners high-quality learning experiences
  • The practices implemented to empower women in WBL

The organizations implementing this project are responsible to collect all the important data, that will explain the WBL state of their countries. For example, IED is able to provide all the WBL Professionals job profiles and frameworks information for Greece. That information clearly states the most popular professional profile in work-based learning. For Greece these are the following:

  1. Teacher
  2. In-Company Trainer
  3. Trainers of Initial Vocational Training (Adult Trainers)

Work-based learning projects are aimed at helping future employees learn new skills and competencies and promote their work. At the same time, they try to bring teachers and trainers closer to businesses and industries. That way WBL will be promoted in the actual work place which is the next step for the evolution of the process.  The partners working on these projects, will collect and release the most important information regarding work-based learning in their countries which will provide a good view af WBL and the way it evolves on each European country!
