The Institute of Entrepreneurship Development participates in the European Project E-STEAM!

Equality in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (E-STEAM) focuses on primary, junior and upper-secondary, VET and non-VET teachers by developing a gender-sensitive interdisciplinary approach in class. It addresses the underrepresentation of girls in STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Arts, Engineering and Mathematics) who will be the future women in STE(A)M careers.

Ε-STEAM project is mainly based on project-based learning, problem-based learning as the main teaching (learning) approach to guide teachers and girl students through cooperation and practice, to complete the theme of the project and solve problems encountered in life. As a kind of transcending traditional education mode, E-STEAM can narrow the gap and the existing knowledge and skills of the girls and boys and enhance the students’ employment competitiveness. The project involves partners from Portugal, Bulgaria, Spain, Romania and Greece.

The result of the first deliverable of the project was to record the views of STEAM educators. In collaboration with Kindergarten “Akata Makata” in Larisa, a workshop with early school age pupils were organized in order to detect the gender inequality and the stereotypes that exist between the pupils from an early age. The project overall aims to support students and educators in understanding gender equality in a multidimensional and innovative way.
