Short-Term Joint Staff RESPECT Training in Cyprus

iED announces the successful completion of the first RESPECT training. The event took place in Nicosia, Cyprus, from June 28th till July 2nd, 2021. The training occurred in the framework of the project “RESPECT: Youths’ REspect of Solidarity, Peace, Equality, Citizenship, and Tolerance through creativity”.

Brief Introduction to RESPECT

It is an Erasmus+ project addressed to youth workers, trainers, artists that are active in the field of youth education. The project’s design lies in the teaching of the following concepts of solidarity, peace, equality, citizenship, and tolerance to youths. However, the project foresees taking into consideration the different needs of youth, in each country frame. The overall aim, of the project, is to achieve social inclusion for young people of cultural minority backgrounds. It is a strategic partnership of 4 organizations, coming from Cyprus, Greece, Bulgaria, and Poland.

RESPECT Training: In a Nutshell

In the five-day event, trainers from Poland, Bulgaria, Greece, and Cyprus received training in the concepts of respect, solidarity, diversity, and inclusion. The schedule would consist of outdoor activities, each time in different settings. Furthermore, the design of the activities was aiming to promote bonding; team spirit; education; and, entertainment, among the attendees. In particular, the schedule formation was the following:

  • On June 28th, occurred the first day of training. The day included icebreaking activities; and, iED provided training in relation to the field of gender respective language in journaling.
  • The activity plan of the second day, would focus on emotional health and on types of personality.
  • The third day was about emotional health; ways of bullying prevention; and, building trust and collaboration.
  • The fourth day included activities, regarding mail art.
  • Finally, the fifth day was dedicated to evaluation, and to awarding of certificates.

iED is content with the outcome and quality of the first RESPECT training. In addition, our team is looking forward to the next training, of the project, which will soon be materialized in Sofia, Bulgaria.
